It’s All About the Light

It’s all about the light.

These photos were taken about 20 minutes apart. Same angle. But the first one was taken as the sun was shining bright on the Delicate Arch in Moab, Utah, just before it set.

Lighting in photography is essential for creating depth, contrast, and emotion, much like the internal light we shine as humans influences the world around us.

Just as a well-placed light source can highlight beauty, reveal details, and set the tone of an image, our inner light—our kindness, joy, and authenticity—can illuminate the lives of others, bringing warmth and clarity to even the darkest moments.

Harsh lighting can create unflattering shadows, just as negativity and fear can distort our true essence. Soft, natural light enhances a subject’s best features, just as love, grace, and compassion bring out the best in us.

Whether in photography or life, the way we use light determines the impact of the image we leave behind.
